Walking in the wind of today's Nor'easter got me thinking about the many "lessons" we can learn from a simple, natural phenomena like this one. As John Muir observed, "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." (Don't miss my hat flying off about 3/4 of the way through!)
Now, today's "lesson" may not sound especially profound, but the idea of "grounding" oneself in a solid foundation is about as profound as it gets. If you have ever felt on shaky ground, from an emotional standpoint, integrating some mindful walking into your life can help. Don't let the simplicity fool you—by increasing the alpha waves in your brain, this calming practice can put you in deeper touch with your inner guidance system, leading you gently back to that "thing" that holds you up when the winds of life blow hard.
