If you found your way to this page, there is a good chance that you are, like me, a bit of an environmentalist, at heart. At the very least, you probably like the idea of getting outside now and again, even if you're not able to do it as often as you'd wish. Maybe you walk - or have considered walking - as a way to relieve some stress, quiet your busy mind, or drop a few pounds and you know how good it can feel to do it outside.
But there is another reason to walk that I don't often talk about and that is as an expression of our love and sense of responsibility for the beautiful Earth we all share. In other words, It's not always about your carbon footprint - sometimes what really matters is your actual footprint.
I know it doesn't sound quite as sexy as a tighter bum and shapely calves, but, in the great scheme of things, learning to love the planet that sustains us it may be an even more compelling reason to make walking a regular part of your life.
