I wish I could say that I have always been a "mindful walker". My life would probably have been a little easier if that were the case. But, like most people, I discovered a better, easier, happier way to approach life only after I hit a low point. I go into more detail on this in my book The Mindful Walker, but suffice it to say that the changes this practice has unleashed in my life - including my body, mind, and spirit - are nothing short of miraculous.
Turns out, I just needed to go outside to really go inside.
Today, I know that everything we need to handle anything life throws at us is already inside of us. We just need a way to bring it back to the surface, out from under all the busyness and worry of our everyday lives. That's where I come in. If you want:

My Professional Bio
Alex Strauss is an author, editor, speaker and creative entrepreneur. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds an MA in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University. A former television anchor/healthcare reporter, Alex has taught public speaking and composition at the college level and has published an award-winning regional business magazine for medical professionals since 2000. After years of believing she was actually the one "holding the reigns" in her busy life - and nearly burning out because of it - she came to understand, through reading, study, and miles of walks in nature, that a bigger and more powerful Universal force "has our back", regardless of our circumstances or frame of mind.
The Mindful Walker is her effort to share this understanding and her simple, time-tested method for tapping into this force. Alex launched the "The Mindful Walker" YouTube channel in 2014 and published her bestselling inspirational guidebook, The Mindful Walker, through Amazon in 2016. In October 2016, she was a featured teacher at the 2016 Fifty Forward Life conference in Western North Carolina.
Alex walks in the beautiful Piedmont region of North Carolina where she lives with her husband, two daughters, three dogs, three cats, a gecko and assorted fish (not to mention the wildlife!) She holds a membership to most North Carolina museums, bakes a mean scone, plays the Celtic drum, and still uses her library card regularly.
